Bernadette Brady
on progressions

"The progression will seem to manifest first as a feeling or need and then as an action"

"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."

"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."

Demetra George
on asteroids

"Astrologers need the asteroids because the tradi-tional planets simply do not and cannot fully explain the issues which are emerging - simply because they are new."

"Before the use of asteroids, the only significators of the feminine in the traditional chart interpretation were the Moon and Venus. The socially acceptable roles for women were the Moon as mother and Venus as mate."

"Ceres, Pallas, June and Vesta represent the new voices of the dormant feminine, recently activated and now demanding power, recognition, justice, and equality in our society."

Richard Tarnas
on the cosmos

Astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive."

"The modern dismissal of astrology reflects the virtually universal conviction that the cosmos is disenchanted."

"The universe is a fundamentally and irreducibly interconnected whole, informed by creative intelligence and pervaded by patterns of meaning and order that extend through every level, and that are expressed through a constant correspondence between astronomical events and human events."

Nicholas Campion
on national horoscopes

"Experiment with the charts. Make predictions. And yes, prediction remains a perfectly valid exercise: one successful prediction reveals more about the nature of the universe than a hundred retrospective studies."

" Just as the individual is contained within the collective, so natal astrology can be seen as contained within mundane astrology."

"The modern nation state is largely a creation of the French revolution and is becoming increasingly irrelevant as capitalism becomes global."

Michael O'Reilly
on geopolitics

"Astrology as a worldview shows us that everything is connected, that the individual is an interdependent part of the whole. "

"When Scorpio is rising, the U.S. has four planets in the eighth house, underscoring the national focus on acculating wealth and corporate influence."

"The biggest celebrities have natal planets closely connected to national planets. Their character may personify a specific planet or group of planets, so that they become a national icon or archetype."

"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

Tax Stand Off

On December 3, the United States will be experiencing its eighth Saturn Return since the nation was born in 1776. As in personal horoscopes, when the nation goes through its Saturn Return, the feeling-tone of the political debate assumes a heightened level of seriousness directed at overcoming the most severe structural problems of the day. Since the Sun squares Saturn in the U.S. chart, leadership issues are also on the front burner.
Sarah Palin's Book Tour

Sarah Palin's book-signing trip for "America by Heart" begins this week with a 16-city tour aimed clearly at getting the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. With stops in the early-caucus state of Iowa and the crucial primary state of South Carolina, Palin's sure to be on the front pages over the next few weeks as she plays out her role of political provocateur.

According to Palin's rectified horoscope (set for 4:55 pm), publishing books is a great venue for gaining political ground. Beneficial Jupiter is found in her ninth house of publishing, and in the sign of Aries, allows her to cash in on her confrontational style. Her progressed Sun entered her ninth house last year when she published her first political book, "Going Rogue".

One chapter in her latest book is devoted to defending her "Mama Grizzly" movement, which equates select GOP women candidates to these "beautiful, ferocious, serious-as-a-heart-attack creatures". Palin's Ceres in adventurous Sagittarius represents this maternal side of her psyche. It's placed in the fifth house of children and recreational activities where it's much enhanced by trines to her Leo Ascendant and Jupiter in Aries.

Transiting Mars is heading into the conjunction with her Ceres as she promotes mama grizzlies while her daughter Bristol dances in the DWTS finale. As the tour begins, transiting Mars is also trine her ninth house Jupiter. The last stop in South Carolina will be on December 3 when transiting Mars trines her progressed Jupiter. Transiting Mars to natal and then progressed Jupiter in the ninth house neatly defines her book tour, which undoubtedly will look more like a political campaign.
William and Kate

When Prince William and Kate Middleton separated in mid-April 2007* , William said he was too young to get married. The two had known each other since 2001, and felt enormous pressure from the media and family expectations to get down to the business of marriage. Later in 2007, the two got back together and finally last week announced that they will marry in 2011.
*NewsScope looked at their charts in January 2007 and made this accurate prediction based on Juno: "In early April, transiting Uranus squares her Juno, when she will (at least temporarily) try and break away from her role as the future king's girlfriend."
Traditional astrologers will tell you that William (June 21, 1982; 9:03 pm; London) made this decision under the spell of his progressed Venus conjunct his natal Sun, a combination said to bring true love. The announcement came as Venus turned direct near his Midheaven while exactly sextile his Ascendant. Undoubtedly, he's feeling more mature now and ready to get married since he's experiencing his Saturn Return in the partnership sign of Libra.

Juno, the marriage asteroid, is a significant celestial player. Prince William's reluctance to follow traditional marriage projections can be seen in his retrograde Juno near his Sagittarius Ascendant. In April 2007, he bowed out when his progressed Juno had backed up to his Ascendant and was being undermined by a conjunction from transiting Pluto. Likewise in Kate's chart (January 9, 1982), transiting Uranus was exactly squaring her Juno at the time.

Looking forward, a problem can be seen in that transiting Uranus and Pluto will be adversely aligned with William's Mars in Libra over the next few years. Any differences will be greatly exacerbated under this influence. In any case, with Saturn rising to his Midheaven, William probably will get married. The most auspicious and sumptuous time would be when his progressed Venus trines natal Jupiter around next year's autumn equinox.
re: William and Kate getting married... Politics and Romance -- right up your, and your readers', alley!  -- a perfect "marriage" for your posts. Happy forecasting.
-- a very appreciative reader.
Deadlines are one of the chief concerns when Saturn comes around. Among the most relevant deadlines, Congress has until November 31 to extend benefits for the unemployed and until December 31 to decide what to do with the so-called Bush tax cuts. Deficit-conscious Republicans are caught with the paradoxical agenda of promoting tax cuts for the super-rich while cutting off benefits for the unemployed.

Like other major astro-events, the Saturn Return is more akin to a process than a date-specific turning point. After all, transiting Saturn will make two more conjunctions with natal Saturn in 2011, so the issues will take time to understand and resolve. Since transiting Pluto is concurrently opposing the U.S. Jupiter, the major issues are about the nation's big money problems: federal deficits, federal spending, and out-of-control entitlement programs.

Another transit shaping the current Saturn Return is Neptune conjunct the U.S. Pallas on December 24. This astro-event indicates that political posturing (Pallas) will divide and confuse (Neptune) the socio-economic merits of the Bush tax cuts right up to the deadline. This suggests that this political hot potato will likely be extended until 2012 when the next electorate will decide its permanent fate.
