Bernadette Brady
on progressions

"The progression will seem to manifest first as a feeling or need and then as an action"

"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."

"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."

Demetra George
on asteroids

"Astrologers need the asteroids because the tradi-tional planets simply do not and cannot fully explain the issues which are emerging - simply because they are new."

"Before the use of asteroids, the only significators of the feminine in the traditional chart interpretation were the Moon and Venus. The socially acceptable roles for women were the Moon as mother and Venus as mate."

"Ceres, Pallas, June and Vesta represent the new voices of the dormant feminine, recently activated and now demanding power, recognition, justice, and equality in our society."

Richard Tarnas
on the cosmos

Astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive."

"The modern dismissal of astrology reflects the virtually universal conviction that the cosmos is disenchanted."

"The universe is a fundamentally and irreducibly interconnected whole, informed by creative intelligence and pervaded by patterns of meaning and order that extend through every level, and that are expressed through a constant correspondence between astronomical events and human events."

Nicholas Campion
on national horoscopes

"Experiment with the charts. Make predictions. And yes, prediction remains a perfectly valid exercise: one successful prediction reveals more about the nature of the universe than a hundred retrospective studies."

" Just as the individual is contained within the collective, so natal astrology can be seen as contained within mundane astrology."

"The modern nation state is largely a creation of the French revolution and is becoming increasingly irrelevant as capitalism becomes global."

Michael O'Reilly
on geopolitics

"Astrology as a worldview shows us that everything is connected, that the individual is an interdependent part of the whole. "

"When Scorpio is rising, the U.S. has four planets in the eighth house, underscoring the national focus on acculating wealth and corporate influence."

"The biggest celebrities have natal planets closely connected to national planets. Their character may personify a specific planet or group of planets, so that they become a national icon or archetype."

"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"
~ Alice O. Howell
Reader Feedback...  "My brother was born the SAME DAY as Palin, and he has a Leo rising. He got married in Oct of 89, one year after Palin. So you may be very close with rectification. He is a Christian evangelical and a right winger  – I just don’t understand, he’s such a smart guy. "
" I think Christine O'Donnell is too nutty, even for Fox News. They certainly are not championing her.
I find that people with venus square mars, within the framework of marriage, well, fidelity is not one of their strong points. "

Apple Rising

In 2003 you could buy 100 shares of Apple's stock for $600. Last week, when Apple's stock price closed at an all-time high, those same 100 shares would be worth $31,400. Apple is now the second largest corporation in America (after Exxon), having re-invented itself a few times and hitting the jackpot most recently with its revolutionary products, the iPad and the iPhone.
Apple was incorporated on January 3, 1977 (Sacramento, CA; noon) when the Sun was in the business-oriented sign of Capricorn and squaring Pluto. The Sun-Pluto square reflects the periodic metamorphosis in Apple's leadership, its near-death and re-birth experiences, as well as the innovative product line that would transform the way people use computers.

It's no coincidence that Eris, the recently discovered outer planet associated with the "apple of discord" is at 13º Aries, where it forms a very tight square with the Capricorn Sun (orb 0º13'). Apple gets its name and reputation from the Eris vibe, since the company executives promoted a more laid-back corporate culture than its staid rivals like IBM. Also, Apple has refused to adopt industry standards for hardware, preferring to create its own.
The noon birth time works well for this chart. When Steve Jobs returned to Apple after a long absence, he convinced the board to fire the CEO on July 4, 1997. At the time, transiting Saturn was right on the Aries Ascendant and squaring Mercury in the tenth house of management. Most recently, transiting Pluto has been conjunct Mars, Apple's ruling planet. This has empowered Apple with a soaring stock price and by becoming Fortune magazine's most admired company in the world for the last three years running.
Follow-up on October's Top Five Astro-Events

Some of the astrological community's top financial astrologers were surprised last week when markets continued their upward climb, even though Venus turned retrograde on the 7th. Typically, Venus stations signal market reversals, but this time it didn't happen. Why not? The scientific astrologer will say it's just statistics: the non-reversal happens 20% of the time, so you just roll the dice and expect to win four out of five times.

Item #4 in October's top five astro-events tells us why the market continues to surge, which is a development in the U.S. horoscope: the progressed Sun trine Jupiter has brought upbeat earnings reports from Wall Street. This same configuration is influencing the November election as well, with untold millions being secretly funneled into pro-corporate candidates, mostly Republicans. Item #5 tells us why the Democrats will lose many seats in November.

Item #2 deserves to be fleshed out as well. Transiting Pluto opposite the U.S. Venus corresponded to the next leg of the banking crisis. Foreclosures have been happening so fast that banks hired unskilled workers to manage the load, leading to numerous accounting errors. Many homeowners are being over-charged and defrauded, and their complaints placed in the circular file.
Item #3 had the happiest manifestation. Transiting Ceres and Pluto together in Capricorn did indeed "point to a major disaster" that required "government resources to help victims." On the night of October 12, when the Moon entered Capricorn to bring Ceres and Pluto together, the first of 33 miners began the most dramatic, successful rescue operation in mining history, watched by millions across the global village.
Jennifer Grey Tops the
DWTS Leaderboard

Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey literally owes her life to Dancing with the Stars. During a routine check-up prior to joining the cast, doctors found a cancerous lump in her neck. Because they found it early enough, it was removed and she was given the "go ahead". Last week, her stunning Argentine Tango with professional partner Derek Hough made her the unquestioned leader.

Jennifer Grey was born a feisty Aries (March 26, 1960; New York, NY; time unknown), with her Sun quincunx Pluto adding determined will power. The Sun's square to Jupiter in Capricorn adds confidence, ambition, and the occasional lucky break (Jupiter is much enhanced by
being trine Pluto). Transiting Pluto turned direct in mid-September right on her Jupiter when the cancer was discovered.

Jennifer has three planets in Pisces near her South Node, indicating that she would also suffer from physical, emotional and spiritual pain, and feel victimized by circumstances. Both Mars in Aquarius and Juno, the partnership asteroid, adversely aspect her lunar node axis and help describe what fateful events she would experience. Among those was her formative co-starring role (Juno) with Patrick Swayze (Mars), who recently died of cancer.

Derek Hough (May 17, 1985; Salt Lake City; time unknown) has his Taurus Sun opposite Saturn, which makes for a tough taskmaster. Since this polarity exactly squares Jennifer's Mars, he's bound to test her core strength. His Mars squaring her Venus provides plenty of sexual chemistry, but their Mars-Saturn combination can be brutal. A titanium plate in her neck (following a major car accident) prevents her from some standard dance moves. As long as he doesn't push her too hard, she should win.
