"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

Reader Feedback re: Market Meltdown, one more feature of last Thursday's sudden "glitch" in the market trading was transiting Mars conjunct Uranus in the NYSE chart which you provided in the May Dell Horoscope article. If I interpret this correctly, Mars (haste) conjunct Uranus (electronic trading) led to the fat finger fiasco.

on progressions
"The progression will seem to manifest first as a feeling or need and then as an action"
"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."
"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."
Demetra George
on asteroids
"Astrologers need the asteroids because the tradi-tional planets simply do not and cannot fully explain the issues which are emerging - simply because they are new."
"Before the use of asteroids, the only significators of the feminine in the traditional chart interpretation were the Moon and Venus. The socially acceptable roles for women were the Moon as mother and Venus as mate."
"Ceres, Pallas, June and Vesta represent the new voices of the dormant feminine, recently activated and now demanding power, recognition, justice, and equality in our society."
Richard Tarnas
on the cosmos
Astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive."
"The modern dismissal of astrology reflects the virtually universal conviction that the cosmos is disenchanted."
"The universe is a fundamentally and irreducibly interconnected whole, informed by creative intelligence and pervaded by patterns of meaning and order that extend through every level, and that are expressed through a constant correspondence between astronomical events and human events."
Nicholas Campion
on national horoscopes
"Experiment with the charts. Make predictions. And yes, prediction remains a perfectly valid exercise: one successful prediction reveals more about the nature of the universe than a hundred retrospective studies."
" Just as the individual is contained within the collective, so natal astrology can be seen as contained within mundane astrology."
"The modern nation state is largely a creation of the French revolution and is becoming increasingly irrelevant as capitalism becomes global."
Celeste Teal
on prediction
"The progressed aspects show the 'plot' of a story and lay the foundation for the types of events that will be triggered by the transits."
"It is the progressions that set the stage for potential events, showing detailed conditions and circumstances for a particular time frame accoring to the aspects formed between progressed and natal planets or between two progressed planets."
"At times of major events, there are frequently two or more exact aspects from outer transiting planets to natal or progressed planets."

North Korea's Transition
When a South Korean warship was attacked two months ago, suspicion was immediately cast upon North Korea. However, no direct accusations were made until last week when forensic evidence confirmed that the Cheonan was sunk by a North Korean torpedo. Recent American intelligence reports indicate that ailing North Korean president Kim Jong-il must have authorized the attack to establish his control and the right to name his successor, his son Kim Jong-un.
The astrological evidence confirms what scientists have found. North Korea's horoscope (September 10, 1948; 8:50 pm; Pyongyang, NK) features Mars in Scorpio opposite the Taurus Ascendant. Mars here also squares Venus, the ruler of NK's chart, so that this Mars placement signifies North Korea's perpetual military conflict with other nations. By secondary
progression, Mars was conjunct the Descendant during the Korean War in the early 1950s.
This past March, transiting Mars turned direct and remained in the first two degrees of Leo for several weeks. Typically, Mars's tendency for action takes place just before the Mars transit is exact. On March 26, the date of the attack, transiting Mars was at 1º Leo, and very close to the NK Venus (orb 0º17'). As transiting Mars advanced slowly to square natal Mars, the threats and potential for armed conflict with South Korea intensified.
NK's ruling planet Venus is conjunct Ceres in the 4th house, suggesting a nation run by a family dynasty. This Venus-Ceres signature is currently being activated by all the outer planet transits. Also, NK's progressed Sun (the leadership) and Ceres (family connections) are nearly squaring each other, indicating that the process of a father-to-son transition will likely be unfolding over the next few months.
This biwheel section shows North Korea's chart on the inner wheel and the progressed chart on the outer wheel
Top Five Astro-Events for June
1. Jupiter conjunct Uranus on the 8th leads to spontaneous insights, actions and innovations. Expect announcements about new technologies and discoveries: Google TV, the iPad, and the creation of synthetic cells are recent examples. This combination is challenged by hard aspects from other outer planets which bring practical and ideological obstacles to growth and wild gyrations in the stock market.
2. The New Moon in Gemini on June 12 is conjunct the U.S. Mars, initiating military plans, dynamic developments within U.S. carmakers, and other metals-based industries. Due to concurrent outer planet dynamics, watch out for major traffic snafus and accidents. Expect a natural or manmade disaster to hit one a large U.S. city around this time.
3. Pallas turns direct on June 24th, an incidental asteroid station that gains importance via its long-term sextile to Pluto. This combination favors reaching political solutions to longstanding disputes. Reform measures may be proposed and implemented, especially in the financial system. Expect much political maneuvering to nullify extremists. The 24th, 25th and 26th are power days, to be used creatively and intelligently.
4. The Lunar Eclipse on June 26th is an exceptionally important astro-event since it aligns with Pluto, and squares Jupiter, Uranus and Saturn. This action-oriented dynamic indicates the elevation of new leaders and the fall of others. New ideas, products, systems and lifestyles are in do-or-die mode. Individual and collective survival is at stake. This is a good time to transform self-destructive habits. Danger brings opportunity.
5. Saturn quincunx Neptune on June 27th is a major influence all month. The practical management concerns associated with Saturn are challenged by the visionary, idealistic message of Neptune in Aquarius. Politicians thrive under these aspects, and the task for voters is to discern the truth amidst the many promises. Saturn-to-Neptune indicates the collective's coming to grips with its addiction to oil.
The Kevin Costner Solution
Last Friday the EPA abruptly changed course and demanded that BP switch to a less toxic solution than the chemical dispersant it's been using. Surprisingly, since making Waterworld in 1995, actor Kevin Costner has been fine-tuning a massive machine that separates oil from water. Costner, the greentech entrepreneur, will deploy six of his stainless steel centrifugal oil separators this week around Louisiana's shores.
Kevin Costner was born with his Capricorn Sun (January 18, 1955; 9:40 pm; Lynwood, CA) aspecting all the outer planets, giving him a transcendent sense of responsibility and a keen interest in playing powerful archetypal heroes. His Sun's closest aspect is the square to
* Last week, NewsScope profiled Elena Kagan and her telling Pallas. These Pallas themes are prominent now since transiting Pallas is conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant.
Neptune, which naturally shapes his sense of self, most notably as a film star. Now, his interest in cleaning up oil spills is taking center stage.
Currently, the closest, most telling planetary passage is progressed Pallas* quincunx natal Jupiter (orb 0º01'). Pallas is associated with "creative intelligence", a meaning much amplified here since it's conjunct Costner's Sagittarius Moon in the third house of ideas. Now that progressed Pallas is meeting up with Jupiter, he has the opportunity to put his vision into action.
Costner's progressed Sun at 24º Pisces is also aspecting natal Jupiter (orb 0º15'), suggesting much success in this extremely unusual and innovative project. And looking at the outer planet transits, each one is making close, favorable aspects to his natal chart. The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in early Aries is especially favorable, since it will be conjunct his Mars. In the business sense, this probably indicates hitting the jackpot with his green technology.

on geopolitics
"Astrology as a worldview shows us that everything is connected, that the individual is an interdependent part of the whole. "
"When Scorpio is rising, the U.S. has four planets in the eighth house, underscoring the national focus on acculating wealth and corporate influence."
"The biggest celebrities have natal planets closely connected to national planets. Their character may personify a specific planet or group of planets, so that they become a national icon or archetype."
