Bernadette Brady
on progressions

"The progression will seem to manifest first as a feeling or need and then as an action"

"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."

"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."

Demetra George
on asteroids

"Astrologers need the asteroids because the tradi-tional planets simply do not and cannot fully explain the issues which are emerging - simply because they are new."

"Before the use of asteroids, the only significators of the feminine in the traditional chart interpretation were the Moon and Venus. The socially acceptable roles for women were the Moon as mother and Venus as mate."

"Ceres, Pallas, June and Vesta represent the new voices of the dormant feminine, recently activated and now demanding power, recognition, justice, and equality in our society."

Richard Tarnas
on the cosmos

Astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive."

"The modern dismissal of astrology reflects the virtually universal conviction that the cosmos is disenchanted."

"The universe is a fundamentally and irreducibly interconnected whole, informed by creative intelligence and pervaded by patterns of meaning and order that extend through every level, and that are expressed through a constant correspondence between astronomical events and human events."

Nicholas Campion
on national horoscopes

"Experiment with the charts. Make predictions. And yes, prediction remains a perfectly valid exercise: one successful prediction reveals more about the nature of the universe than a hundred retrospective studies."

" Just as the individual is contained within the collective, so natal astrology can be seen as contained within mundane astrology."

"The modern nation state is largely a creation of the French revolution and is becoming increasingly irrelevant as capitalism becomes global."

Celeste Teal
on prediction

"The progressed aspects show the 'plot' of a story and lay the foundation for the types of events that will be triggered by the transits."

"It is the progressions that set the stage for potential events, showing detailed conditions and circumstances for a particular time frame accoring to the aspects formed between progressed and natal planets or between two progressed planets."

"At times of major events, there are frequently two or more exact aspects from outer transiting planets to natal or progressed planets."

Michael O'Reilly
on geopolitics

"Astrology as a worldview shows us that everything is connected, that the individual is an interdependent part of the whole. "

"When Scorpio is rising, the U.S. has four planets in the eighth house, underscoring the national focus on acculating wealth and corporate influence."

"The biggest celebrities have natal planets closely connected to national planets. Their character may personify a specific planet or group of planets, so that they become a national icon or archetype."

"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"
~ Alice O. Howell
Reader Feedback...  I cannot believe that the conservative forces will prevail in the Age of Aquarius! If so, I'm headed elsewhere on this planet other than the USA!
response: We just came through a Saturn-Pluto square, and as I wrote a year ago when Obama was riding high in the polls, the conservatives will be back big time during the Saturn-Pluto dynamic.  Reagan was elected during the last Saturn-Pluto conjunction.

ideals. Their ultra-conservative, uncompromising style has captured a faction of the American heartland due to their Saturn's precise conjunction with the U.S. Moon at 25º Aquarius.

The Aquarius planets are modified by a square to Neptune, and in this dynamic we can see their interest in restoring traditional Christian values. Neptune was discovered on September 23, 1846 while it was conjunct Saturn at 25º Aquarius. This historic 1840s era was marked by the establishment of America's major homegrown religions, including Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Latter Day Saints (Mormons).
Top Five Astro-Events for September

1. Mars enters Scorpio on the 14th while traveling with Venus all month. In the social sphere, this highly erotic, romantic Venus-Mars combo stimulates intense passion and desire while in Scorpio, increasing the likelihood of sexual intrigue at the office, at play, and through random encounters. Politically, expect a new diplomatic thrust from the U.S. in international affairs.
The Mature Matt Dillon

Veteran actor Matt Dillon co-stars in "Takers", which opened last weekend ranked #2 in box office receipts. Dillon plays a tough cop on the hunt for a gang of bank robbers, a much more mature character than his brooding, bad boy roles of the 1980s. Dillon has matured in real life as well, from a wild, self-destructive youth to a thoughtful humanitarian.

The Palin-Beck Phenomenon

Astro-twins Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck led a "non-political" rally in Washington D.C. last Saturday, urging the overwhelmingly white crowd to restore the nation's honor and traditional values. The event was staged at the same location (at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial) as Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech, and exactly 47 years after the date – a coincidence that has led to much controversy.

Glenn Beck (February 10, 1964) and Sarah Palin (February 11, 1964) were both born with a Sun-Mars-Saturn triple conjunction in Aquarius, a combative combination prone to dealing with abstractions and
Matt Dillon was born with a Sun-Mars-Saturn triple conjunction in Aquarius (February 18, 1964; 6:05 am; New Rochelle, NY). The Sun and Mars are only 1/4º apart, and therefore represent the strongest influence on his ego development, which is stridently self-assertive and combative. Sun-Saturn people have a powerful drive to succeed, to be recognized as an influential force in society.

With Mercury, the planet associated with youth, right on his Ascendant, Dillon became a teenage star in 1978 when talent scouts spotted him in high school. Transiting Saturn opposed his natal Saturn at 25º Aquarius at the time, as he found his place in American cinema. Also, transiting Jupiter was trine his Sun-Mars, bringing luck and opportunity, and favorable comparisons to James Dean and Marlon Brando.
From these roots, it's evident that the Palin-Beck phenomenon is a manifestation of the Saturn-Neptune cycle and its connection to the U.S. Moon. Neptune in their charts is in Scorpio, the sign associated with regeneration, which in this case, they call religious restoration. Factor in Mars and we have a dynamic duo bent on spiritual warfare. They lead a political movement framed by religious dogma and the idolization of the waning Age of Pisces.
2. Jupiter conjoins Uranus on the 18th, but is in effect all month. Since this expansive, illuminating pair is in faith-oriented Pisces, watch for major developments within religious circles. Individuals may find inspiration, visions for a better future, and may witness or participate in paranormal phenomena. Jupiter-Uranus favors technological breakthroughs, especially in biotechnology.
3. Transiting Neptune conjoins the U.S. Pallas on the 19th, but is within ½º all month. When the planet of deception and confusion aligns with the political asteroid, expect significant distortion and half-truths about the most important issues, while trivial issues become profiled out of proportion. Political strategists may come under fire, and some newsworthy political corruption cases can be expected.

4. The Full Moon on September 23 (5:16 am EDT) takes place within hours after the Autumn Equinox. This exceptionally important phase activates the four outer planets near the cardinal angles, bringing into play all their underlying tension. The Aries-Libra polarity highlights the conflict between independent action and cooperation. In political affairs, watch for dramatic demonstrations of ideological extremism.

5. Saturn squares the Lunar Node axis on the 27th, marking the center of a dangerous week when natural or man-made catastrophes could cost many lives and imperil many more. The Sun-Saturn conjunction on the 30th is only ½ degree past the square, and indicates a turning point for many political leaders. The U.S. takes decisive action in a dangerous environment.
With Pallas, the asteroid of creative intelligence, conjunct his Midheaven, Dillon has realized what his Mars-Saturn conflicts are all about. "There've been times when I'm very prone to anger," he said in an interview. "And if I look at my anger, there's usually fear behind it. Some sort of fear of something." Dillon has transformed his fears into constructive Aquarian causes. He regularly devotes his time and financial resources to fight hunger, homelessness, illiteracy and poverty, and to help international refugees.
