"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

Reader Feedback "Regardless of the fact that gas at BP stations is usually 2 to 3 cents a gallon cheaper then at other gas stations, more and more people here and throughout the other Gulf states are now boycotting BP gasoline. Gulf state residents are enraged at what this spill is costing us in our fishing and tourist industries. As this oil spreads it will also effect the fishing and tourist industries at the rest of the Gulf Coast countries."

"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."
"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."

McChrystal was born with a Sun-Pluto conjunction in Leo (August 14, 1954*), a combination that gives him tremendous will power. The Sun-Pluto trines Mars, so he demonstrates that will power through physical and military exploits that have earned him his exalted rank. In contrast to the imperial attitude that goes along with a Sun-Pluto in Leo, McChrystal's Moon is in Aquarius, making him a team player.
Stanley McChrystal and Douglas MacArthur
Obama's dismissal of Stanley McChrystal was widely seen as inevitable given the general's insubordinate remarks in the incriminating Rolling Stone article. Obama had to confirm civilian control over the military, just as Harry Truman did when he dismissed the popular leader of American forces during the Korean War, General Douglas MacArthur. Here are a few astrological parallels between these dramatic showdowns.
Douglas MacArthur (January 26, 1880; 6:30 pm; Little Rock, AR) was born with a Mars-Pluto conjunction in his tenth house of career, reflecting his choice of the military. His Aquarius Sun opposes his Leo Moon and Ascendant, so he too had to balance imperial leadership with the needs of the collective. Both MacArthur and McChrystal have their North Node in Capricorn, where it opposes the U.S. Sun, symbolizing how their need for control (Capricorn) ran against U.S. leadership (U.S. Sun).
MacArthur was dismissed on April 10, 1951 when Jupiter and Saturn opposed each other. Expansive Jupiter needed to be controlled by Saturn in disciplined Virgo. Last week when McChrystal was dismissed, Saturn had returned to the same
degree in Virgo and was also opposing Jupiter. In both cases, Saturn was forming a trine to the U.S. Pluto in Capricorn, where it firmly re-established the constitutionally-mandated pecking order.
Top Five Astro- Events for July
1. Uranus turns retrograde on the 5th, marking a climax in technological innovation, revolutionary products, and other scientific and exploratory endeavors. Uranus heads back into Pisces, but the seeds for new starts, new social orders, new adventures have been laid. Uranus returns to Aries in March 2011 to fulfill the promises envisioned over the past month.
2. The U.S. progressed Moon squares Mars on July 6th, emphasizing the deepening military challenges in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and elsewhere. Since the progressed Moon is heading into a conjunction with Neptune, the overall confusion about oil spills, energy policy, deadlines, quagmires and achievable goals will likely get intense scrutiny in the media.
3. The Solar Eclipse on the 11th will likely bring major earthquakes, tropical storms, and other earth changes since it takes place during the outer planet T-Square. The eclipse conjoins Juno in Cancer, so for those with planets in this degree area, marriage and family issues are under considerable stress. In politics and business, women may suddenly vault into prominence.
4. Jupiter squares Pluto on the 25th, and is a strong influence from the 16th to 26th. This combination indicates the movement of Big Money and its effects on the stock market, business deals, and political influence. Since Jupiter and Pluto align with the U.S. Venus, major financial reforms are being concluded and implemented.
5. Saturn opposes Uranus on the 26th, but is in effect all month. This combination is the last of five between these two, and pits the new and different against the old and reliable. Candidates may be seen as breaths of fresh air, or quacks gone off the deep end. Mars activates the underlying dynamic in the last week of July, likely bringing much conflict and violence.
Eclipse Hits Al Gore's Moon
The local police, the FBI, and several newspapers found no reason to investigate a masseuse's complaint that Al Gore had sexually assaulted her. She was called to his Portland hotel after he made a speech on global warming. If any of these mainstream officials had a competent astrologer on staff, they would have known that her story was worth pursuing.
The event chart (October 24, 2006; 10:30 pm; Portland, OR) in itself is highly significant, considering the exact conjunction of Venus and Mars in Scorpio. Whenever these two love planets form an aspect, sexual vibes are in the air. And with the conjunction in
When comparing the event chart to Al Gore's horoscope, Chiron is right on his Descendant, the beginning of the 7th house of "others". In this case, Chiron to Al Gore represented the massage therapist who could alleviate his sexual tension. Gore was born with Venus opposite Chiron, so the theme of sexual wounding is already present. Transiting Mercury was conjunct his Chiron at the time he called the masseuse.
This story won't go away. Gore's progressed Venus in the 12th house of secret affairs is currently squaring his Neptune. This combination is a sure-fire signal for a sexual scandal. Progressed Venus was closely squaring his Sun back in October 2006 (orb 0º12'), giving him a strong interest in secret liaisons. Now that the lunar eclipse and transiting Pluto are all aligned with his Moon, this Nobel Prize winner is in deep turmoil.
Scorpio and also conjunct the Sun, the erotic energy is dramatically intensified. This triple conjunction squares Chiron, the ruler of alternative therapies such as massage.
