Bernadette Brady
on progressions

"The progression will seem to manifest first as a feeling or need and then as an action"

"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."

"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."

Demetra George
on asteroids

"Astrologers need the asteroids because the tradi-tional planets simply do not and cannot fully explain the issues which are emerging - simply because they are new."

"Before the use of asteroids, the only significators of the feminine in the traditional chart interpretation were the Moon and Venus. The socially acceptable roles for women were the Moon as mother and Venus as mate."

"Ceres, Pallas, June and Vesta represent the new voices of the dormant feminine, recently activated and now demanding power, recognition, justice, and equality in our society."

Richard Tarnas
on the cosmos

Astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive."

"The modern dismissal of astrology reflects the virtually universal conviction that the cosmos is disenchanted."

"The universe is a fundamentally and irreducibly interconnected whole, informed by creative intelligence and pervaded by patterns of meaning and order that extend through every level, and that are expressed through a constant correspondence between astronomical events and human events."

Nicholas Campion
on national horoscopes

"Experiment with the charts. Make predictions. And yes, prediction remains a perfectly valid exercise: one successful prediction reveals more about the nature of the universe than a hundred retrospective studies."

" Just as the individual is contained within the collective, so natal astrology can be seen as contained within mundane astrology."

"The modern nation state is largely a creation of the French revolution and is becoming increasingly irrelevant as capitalism becomes global."

Celeste Teal
on prediction

"The progressed aspects show the 'plot' of a story and lay the foundation for the types of events that will be triggered by the transits."

"It is the progressions that set the stage for potential events, showing detailed conditions and circumstances for a particular time frame accoring to the aspects formed between progressed and natal planets or between two progressed planets."

"At times of major events, there are frequently two or more exact aspects from outer transiting planets to natal or progressed planets."

Michael O'Reilly
on geopolitics

"Astrology as a worldview shows us that everything is connected, that the individual is an interdependent part of the whole. "

"When Scorpio is rising, the U.S. has four planets in the eighth house, underscoring the national focus on acculating wealth and corporate influence."

"The biggest celebrities have natal planets closely connected to national planets. Their character may personify a specific planet or group of planets, so that they become a national icon or archetype."

"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"
~ Alice O. Howell
Reader Feedback...  I cannot believe that the conservative forces will prevail in the Age of Aquarius! If so, I'm headed elsewhere on this planet other than the USA!
response: We just came through a Saturn-Pluto square, and as I wrote a year ago when Obama was riding high in the polls, the conservatives will be back big time during the Saturn-Pluto dynamic.  Reagan was elected during the last Saturn-Pluto conjunction.

Israeli-Palestinian Talks
Put Everything on the Table

After last week's meeting at the Oval Office between Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestine's President Abbas, most commentators dismissed the talks as nothing more than political theater, with each side politely stating their irreconcilable demands. However, as recently described in NewsScope (see June 7, 2010), the planets suggest the real possibility for "a
tremendous diplomatic breakthrough regarding Israel's annexed and militarily controlled territory."

Israel's horoscope (May 14, 1948; 4:37 pm; Tel Aviv) tells the tale, especially the progressions. The most important one is that after 43 years, Israel's progressed Venus is about to turn direct. It's been retrograde since around the time of the 1967 Six-Day War, when Israel seized and began its occupation of Jerusalem and the West Bank. The current turning point hints at a change of status in these lands.

The Obama Team's strategy in these current negotiations is to put everything on the table for discussion, all the important issues. The outer planet T-square we've been discussing all summer is activating Israel's progressed Midheaven at 3º Libra. In one year – the timetable suggested for an agreement – Israel's progressed Midheaven (its evolving status) will be at 4º Libra where it squares natal Venus, the planet associated with peace agreements.

Progressed Venus turning direct this coming December near Uranus, the Great Awakener, points to the breakthrough. Quite
possibly, an agreement won't be reached until Israel's progressed Mercury (associated with documents) conjoins natal Venus in two years. This dovetails with Israel's progressed Ascendant and Jupiter nearing a conjunction, indicating that negotiations can continue even as Iranian terrorists, Jewish settlers, and Hamas agents seek to sabotage any agreement.
David Koch's Tea Party

If you're like billionaires David and Charles Koch, you believe that politicians are merely actors playing out scripts. According to a recent article in The New Yorker*, these two co-owners of Koch Industries (the second largest private corporation in the United States) are the financial and intellectual backers of the Tea Party movement.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas
on DWTS

When the 11th season of Dancing with the Stars premieres on September 20, Bristol Palin will take the floor with two-time winner Mark Ballas. Although she's only 19, Bristol had already ruffled the national media by being Sarah Palin's pregnant and unmarried daughter. Like many y-
* This article details the Koch brothers' management of the Tea Party movement:
www.newyorker.com.
David Koch (May 3, 1940; Wichita, KS; time unknown) is the most politically active, having run to the right of Ronald Reagan as the Libertarian Party's vice presidential candidate in 1980. His money-savvy Sun in Taurus forms harmonious trines to Ceres and Neptune in Virgo, which have inspired
him to work through charitable organizations. David Koch is widely respected in New York as a major philanthropist.

David Koch has an unusual Mars-Neptune square. His Mars at 21º Gemini is in the same location as the U.S. Mars, and his Neptune at 22º Virgo is in the same place as the U.S. Neptune. In this cosmic coincidence, he has come to represent America's energy (Mars) reliance on oil and gas (Neptune). Koch Industries takes in some $100 billion annually from the oil and gas business.

A significant configuration in his chart reveals him as a hardball political strategist: Pallas, the political asteroid, is conjunct Pluto and square Saturn. Koch's Moon in Aries trines Pallas, energizing his political instincts, but the
Pluto influence suggests that he prefers to deploy his billions under the radar. When the Tea Party was formed in April 2009, Koch's progressed Mercury and Mars were conjunct his natal Pallas, reflecting his active engagement at the time.
geners, after an unsuccessful attempt to live on her own, Bristol has moved back in with her parents.

Bristol Palin was born during the New Moon in Libra (October 18, 1990; Wasilla, Alaska; time unknown), with a Mercury-Venus conjunction adding to her Libran charm and social awareness. Mars in Gemini trines her Venus, giving her plenty of sex appeal and adding to her popularity. Generally, Venus and Mars in harmony promise a keen sense of rhythm – an essential ingredient for ballroom dancing.

However, in Bristol's case, her Venus also squares Saturn, which can have a stifling influence on her ability to freely express herself. We can see how a fluid Mars and challenging Saturn have shaped her life so far. She began her sexual experiences at an early age, got pregnant, and has felt the consequences ever since. Venus conjunct vocal Mercury has led to her professional stint as a spokesperson advocating abstinence.

Mark Ballas (May 24, 1986; Houston, TX; time unknown) has natal planets that push her buttons. His Sun and Chiron in Gemini resonate with her Mars, so that he will energize her passions and competitive spirit. His Mars is conjunct her Saturn and exactly square her Venus, indicating that he will encourage her to release her feminine inhibitions, which she'll need to do if she wants to advance through the rounds. Watch for some strong undercurrents between these two that continue well into after hours.
