re: Gingrich - Are you doing to do an analysis of Newt Gingerich’s chart? He is certainly adding a lot of fire to the Republican primary process.
re: Gingrich - Fox commentator on Newt - arguing he's make a good leader because he talked women into being with him even though he's obviously a jerk. (and to top it, both the first and second wives had gotten a diagnosis of a possibly terminal disease just before he bugs out their marriages):
I want to be coldly analytical, not moralize, here. I want to tell you what Mr. Gingrich’s behavior could mean for the country, not for the future of his current marriage. So, here’s what one interested in making America stronger can reasonably conclude—psychologically—from Mr. Gingrich’s behavior during his three marriages:
1) Three women have met Mr. Gingrich and been so moved by his emotional energy and intellect that they decided they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with him.
2) Two of these women felt this way even though Mr. Gingrich was already married.
3 ) One of them felt this way even though Mr. Gingrich was already married for the second time, was not exactly her equal in the looks department and had a wife (Marianne) who wanted to make his life without her as painful as possible.
re: Iraq - I was hoping that you would post the chart for the US out of Iraq. From what I could tell it was December 15, 2011 13:00 Bagdad local time. Neptune is at 28 Aquarius 30. Compare to the other big disaster on the US Moon with the BP Oil Spill where Neptune was at 28 Aquarius 50 according to the chart in your archives. I think this
makes a very convincing case for the true position of the US natal moon...at 28 Aquarius and some minutes between 30 and 50 and could be
used to backtime the true Ascendant of the US chart. I always enjoy reading your columns and wish you the best for the next year...no matter what it brings.
A. Currently, as the troops withdraw, transiting Saturn is exactly square the US Pluto, the ruler of the Scorpio Rising chart. Neptune at 28 AQ is perfectly trioctile (sesquisquare) the U.S. Sun. This action - withdrawing from Iraq - was instigated by Obama, ie, American leadership, which is symbolized by the U.S. Sun, not Moon. The invasion began on Mar 19, 2003 when the progressed US Sun was at 28 AQ, so Neptune passing over this point is a significant ending to this Iraq cycle.
When Bush invaded in 2003, transiting Jupiter was in imperial Leo and exactly square the US Scorpio Ascendant from the 9th house of foreign affairs. Transiting Saturn was cnj the US Mars, the co-ruler of the Scorpio Ascendant.
The Moon symbolizes the people, consumers, voters, not leadership. Candidates with close connections to the US Moon at 25 AQ do the best. This is all chronicled and detailed in many articles at my website. What led to Newt's surge, if not his several close connections to the US Moon? He has zero planets or angles at 28 AQ, but his Gemini Sun, Chiron in Leo, and Fortuna in Libra are all in 25 degrees of their respective signs. How do you figure he's a leading GOP candidate if the U.S. Moon is at 28 AQ?

Newt Gingrich Wins in South Carolina
With some sharp debate performances last week, Newt Gingrich pulled off a stunning reversal in the polls, leading to an unexpected victory in the South Carolina primary. Romney was successfully attacked for not releasing his taxes. His explanation that his speech-related income was “not very much” turned out to be $374,000 – a far cry from what most working class Americans earn in a year.
Astrologically, any challenging contest generally follows the lead of Mars, the planet associated with fights and aggression. As the once-favored Romney slips a notch to the resurgent Gingrich, Mars is turning retrograde. The trend of the race is reversing as Mars reverses. Mars transiting back and forth through Virgo makes the GOP race interesting, since it forms hard aspects to both Gingrich’s and Romney’s Suns.
Currently, Mars is trine Gingrich’s Midheaven, which is highly favorable for any contest. On the other hand, Mars has been opposing Romney’s Sun and will remain in this challenging aspect for months. Mars will also be squaring Gingrich’s Sun, so this contest could go back and forth for some time. Another factor to consider will be transiting Uranus conjunct each candidate’s Eris. Uranus adds volatility, and how small charges can derail entire campaigns.
Gingrich’s Eris at 5º54’ Aries, is located in his 12th house of secret activity, and exactly square the U.S. Jupiter (orb 0º00’!). This link describes his close relationship with the American corporatocracy. Romney’s Eris at 6º03’ Aries is exactly sextile his Midheaven and closely squaring the U.S. Jupiter. Romney has loudly noted Gingrich’s financial relationship with Fannie Mae, while Gingrich has decried Romney’s job-cutting role as the CEO of Bain. This Mars transit happens to conjoin Obama’s Mars, as he’s being strengthened by the GOP infighting.

In an eerie twist of fate, diners in the Costa Concordia restaurant were listening to Celine Dion’s hit “My Heart Will Go” from the epic film Titanic when the huge cruise ship struck some offshore rocks. Another coincidence made the news when it was revealed that Valentina Capuana, a grand-daughter of a Titanic survivor, was on the Costa Concordia when it capsized.
Astrologically, a number of alignments and parallels link these two disasters. The Titanic disaster (April 14, 1912; 11:40 pm; 41ºN46’, 50ºW15’) features Neptune (king of the seas) exactly squaring the lunar node axis at 21º Aries/Libra, which is the primary signature for this event. The Costa Concordia disaster (January 13, 2012; 9:15 pm; Porto Giglio, Italy) took place just as Eris was turning direct at 21º Aries, and only 0º10’ from the Titanic North Node.
Eris is directly associated with chaos, and expresses how minor, seemingly insignificant events can turn into large scale spectacles. Striking an iceberg or some rocks seems tiny, considering the colossal size of these cruisers. Chaos Theory is often explained by this metaphor: a butterfly flapping its wings in East Africa can create a hurricane in the Caribbean. The planet Eris came into astronomers’ view just as Chaos Theory was being accepted as a valid scientific model.
The Moon in the Titanic chart is at 26º Pisces, exactly conjunct Eris. In the Costa Concordia chart, the Moon is conjunct Mars, trine the Sun and quincunx Eris, creating a four-planet configuration that activates the Eris link to the Titanic. More than a coincidence, this is synchronicity, and a message from the collective unconscious. What is the lesson, or warning?
Madonna and Eris: Chaos as Art
The British media has unequivocally trashed Madonna’s latest project “W.E.”, a film about King Edward VIII and his scandalous relationship with Wallis Simpson. One critic, more conciliatory, wonders about Madonna’s obsession with royalty, which began when she relocated to London in 2000. Madonna explains that she “became transfixed by the idea that a man would give up such a powerful position for love.”

Madonna was born with a Moon-Ceres conjunction right on her Virgo Ascendant (August 16, 1958; 7:05 am; Bay City, MI), which evokes the purity of Mother Mary in Roman Catholic mythology. Madonna has adopted this image for herself, but with a yen for creating taboo imagery in her music videos and public appearances. Astrologers often attribute this overt irreverence to her Mars-Uranus square.
However, the recently discovered outer planet Eris offers a more refined interpretation. Eris is associated with the troublemaker, the one who brings chaos, and can turn small things into huge issues. Eris is closely quincunx her Virgo Ascendant, Ceres and Moon, and is also the closest planet aspecting her Leo Sun (by a trioctile). Madonna is the personification of Eris; she uses Catholic imagery, or anything else she can find that stirs people up, that shakes the status quo.
With Eris as her muse, Madonna has turned her ability to create chaos into an art form, one that has made her the top-selling recording artist of all time. Now, as transiting Pluto is heading into a square to her natal Eris, she’s upset the British press. The film opened over the weekend in the United States as transiting Jupiter trines Madonna’s Virgo planets, so she should do much better in this country. Transiting Jupiter is especially prominent on February 5, when she will perform at the Super Bowl.
