"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

re: Hawaii Five-O - I just found out that both of the leads of the new Hawaii 5 0 share the same birthday! It strikes me as so funny when I watch the show because they are as different as night and day. It would be fun to get your take on it.
Alex O'Loughlin (Steve McGarrett) was born Aug 24, 1976 in the morning in Canberra, Australia. Scott Caan was born Aug 23, 1976 at night in LA. They said in an interview they were born only a few hours apart. I want to know why O'Loughlin is so unbelievably hot, and Caan is not quite. They have the same planets for goodness sakes.....can a rising sign make so much difference?
re: GOP candidates - Your analysis of the candidates has been very interesting and on point
so far. I am curious about Herman Cain and his surge in the polls and wonder when Gov. Perry will finally bow out, if ever. Enjoy your column. Thanks
re: neutrino - I don't agree with some of the basic premises of so-called modern physics. Fifty years from now physicists will look back and wonder how these people could have been so stupid! Modern physics is the science of matter and living things seen as dead material. The real new physics will look upon matter and living things as living material with consciousness. At that point science will be able to accept the reality and beauty of astrology.

re: Occupy Wall Street - Got your analysis of the NY protests. Thought this "manifesto" that is beginning to form may be of interest to you, in light of your comments that it's loose and not formed yet:
Declaration of the Occupation of New York City
This document was accepted by the NYC General Assembly on September 29, 2011
As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.
As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.
They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.
They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless nonhuman animals, and actively hide these practices.
They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.
They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
They have donated large sums of money to politicians supposed to be regulating them.
They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantive profit.

Democracy, Not Corporatocracy
Although the occupation of Wall Street began on September 17, the idea for the peaceful protest came from the Canadian magazine AdBusters. Modeled after the Egyptian occupation of Tahrir Square, the internet proposal was posted on July 13, 2011*. A chart for this moment (set for noon, Manhattan, NY) astrologically defines the Occupy Wall Street movement.
The Sun in security-conscious Cancer is an oddity because it makes no close aspects to any other planets. As the natural symbol for leadership, the OWS finds itself in the unusual position of having no leaders. As the Adbusters proclamation states, there is no alpha male. The new model is just a swarm of people unified behind a compelling idea. The revolutionary Uranus-Pluto square is angular, where it’s shaped the OWS idea into a global movement.
With Libra Rising, Venus is the ruler of this chart. The closest aspect Venus makes is the square to Saturn in Libra, a difficult combination relating to financial hardship and the feeling of imbalance in the economic system. Saturn in Libra prefers to make advances through negotiation and peaceful means.
Mars in message-oriented Gemini is sextile vocal Mercury in dramatic Leo. The OWS slogan “We are the 99%” captured the imagination of the movement. It was launched by Priscilla Grim on September 8 and went viral, just as transiting Saturn was exactly trine the OWS Mars. Since Mercury is conjunct the U.S. Midheaven, the OWS message has resonated across the nation.
Last week, as transiting Saturn squared the OWS Sun, folk heroes Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie brought some leadership into the movement by singing their 1960s anthem “We Shall Overcome”. Over the next few months, transiting Ceres and Pluto are returning to their natal positions in the OWS chart, which should keep the movement alive and well through the harsh winter.
November’s Top Five Astro-Events
1. Mercury conjoins Venus on the 1st through 3rd as they enter Sagittarius together. This pair stimulates new starts, conversation, romance, and an appreciation for beauty and the arts. Generally a mild and pleasant combination, it’s tremendously intensified by simultaneous aspects to Chiron, Neptune and Uranus, which brings relationship changes, market reversals, and adventurous treks into new territory.
2. The Sun trine Ceres is in effect from the 6th to 9th and is especially favorable for enhancing the well-being of self and others. This brief interaction is unusually influential since Ceres turns direct in Pisces on the 6th, marking a three-day period when spiritual awareness, empathy, and assistance prevail. Watch for news stories featuring aid and comfort to those in need.
3. Pluto opposes the U.S. Jupiter on the 19th, but is in effect all month. With the U.S. Jupiter in the 8th house of debt, capitalism, and financial policy, Pluto’s activation can foster major reforms, growing opposition to Wall Street interests, and major corporate and government deals. The bipartisan super committee on deficit reduction is under pressure to create long-term solutions under this influence.
4. The Solar Eclipse on the 24th in Sagittarius is energized by a concurrent Mars-Pluto trine, marking this date as a critical turning point in many geopolitical affairs. The political actions, financial developments, leadership transitions and other historic events unfolding at this time will lead to much re-thinking and re-planning, since Mercury turns retrograde on the 23rd.
5. Neptune trioctile the U.S. Sun on the 25th is a powerful and insidious influence over Washington politics. This connection is in effect all month since Neptune turns direct on the 9th. Leadership issues prevail as Obama slips in the polls and Republicans are uncertain about who should challenge him. Business and financial leaders hold back investments, waiting for clear signals about the economy.
Indeed, numerous rumors of infidelity and outright statements that their six-year marriage is over have been met with stony silence from their mutual reps, and oblique tweets from the celebrities themselves. What does the astrology say?
The clearest picture comes from Demi’s chart (November 11, 1962; 2:16 pm; Roswell, NM) since we don’t have an accurate birth time for Ashton (February 7, 1978; Cedar Rapids, IA). Rumors of his infidelity go back a year or so, but an astrologer might suspect that the trouble began in August 2009 when Saturn entered Demi’s 7th house of partners. Saturn is still in her 7th house, and evidently, still causing her grief in this department.
Demi’s progressed chart reveals more partnership stress. Her progressed Venus and Mars are squaring each other, indicating sexual discord. This is problematic since they were drawn together by sexual harmony: his natal Mars trines her natal Venus. Similarly, in his chart his progressed Mars is forming a challenging aspect to his natal Venus (a quincunx), which likewise may infer sexual dissatisfaction with one’s mate.
There’s not much to look forward to. Ashton’s progressed Venus in early Aries has been activated by transiting Pluto for the last two years. This combination has brought some sexually aggressive young women into his world. Transiting Uranus will be connecting with his progressed Venus in early 2012 at the same time that transiting Pluto conjoins Demi’s progressed Sun. That’s an explosive combination when it comes to trust issues.
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher - Divorcing?
A reader notes that “there’s so much talk of the demise of the marriage of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher,” and asks for “comments regarding their future.”
