"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

World Government - Do you interpret the upcoming cardinal squares through 2015 indicative of a continuing worldwide financial collapse that would usher in a call for world government? Of course world government could not happen overnight but a financial collapse appears to be around the corner.

A. That's a pretty drastic conclusion about the UR-PL square, but it may not be far off. Perhaps the first step toward more centralized world government is getting the various financial agendas synchronized, but before that could happen, major crises would unfold to push leaders to change the system

U.S. Military - As you may know, the congressional Super Committee has a deadline of December to come up with some kind of recommendation for national savings. Barring this, if they're deadlocked, then a "trigger" is pulled for which cuts will automatically be made in safety net programs but also in the military.   Given this, do you see the American military in some sort of state of transformation in the next decade not only abroad but here in America as well?

Good stories - Why don't you write a book about aspects/transits, etc that were thought to be negative, but something revolutionarily good came out of it?

The U.S. Moon - I love to read your column because you do such superb work and the 8º Scorpio chart works beautifully for your predictions. But I've been watching the 28º Aqu point as the US Moon for several years now and I'm convinced this is the degree. A few pieces of data just off the top of my head: Space Shuttle Crash when Uranus transit 28º Aqu. Last big national blackout when Jupiter in Leo opposed at 27º and some degrees Leo. Oil rig disaster when Neptune transit 28º Aqu last time.

A. Yes, 28º AQ does seem like a critical point. Did you know that 28ºAQ12' is exactly trioctile (sesquiquadrate) the U.S. Sun at 13ºCN12'?

Perry Falters, Romney Scores
Einstein and the Neutrino

Last week, European physicists reported that a neutrino beam fired near Geneva to an Italian lab 454 miles away arrived 60 nanoseconds faster than the speed of light. The particle accelerator experiment is undermining one of the pillars of modern physics, that the speed of light is the cosmos’ upper limit, according to Einstein’s 1905 theory of relativity.

Albert Einstein (March 14, 1879; 11:30 am; Ulm, Germany) was born with Jupiter in the 9th house of publishing. Jupiter in the systems-oriented sign of Aquarius is gifted in understanding how all the parts of a larger whole all fit together. Since Jupiter opposes Uranus, Einstein’s ideas about how energy (E) and mass (m) are inter-related were radical, and assumed a constant speed of light (c).
Top Five Astro-Events for October

1. Neptune trioctile the U.S. Sun is exact on the 24th, but in effect all month. Because Neptune turns direct in early November, this aspect is actually in effect through the end of the year. It puts a cloud over all U.S. politics, fostering uncertainty and lack of confidence in Washington. Business leaders take a wait-and-see approach.
In the most charitable accounts, Rick Perry’s performance during last Thursday’s debate was disappointing, while Romney took the offensive and acted more presidential. One veteran conservative pundit put it more harshly: “he came across as unprepared, sometimes unsteady, and at times his answers bordered on being incoherent.” Perry’s supporters say he will do better next time.
Perry’s challenge is how to get over his progressed retrograde Mercury, which has been in effect since February 2010. As the ruler of communication and how one processes information, a retrograde Mercury must internalize and re-think everything before it’s verbally expressed. It’s particularly difficult now, because his progressed Mercury is right on his Taurus Ascendant, and is being squared by transiting Neptune.

This planetary combination only worsens by October 11, when the next big debate will be held in the key primary state of New Hampshire. Neptune remains in a close square to his Ascendant for the next two months, while his progressed Mercury will stay retrograde for the next 20 years. Curiously, Romney was born with Mercury retrograde, and he carries with him the kind of canned responses that this placement develops.

But by secondary progression, Romney’s Mercury turned direct when he was 10 years old. His progressed Mercury and Sun are now conjunct, so that he’s becoming identified as someone who can think on his feet and respond more spontaneously. After Neptune turns direct on November 11, it goes on to square Romney’s Ascendant, undoubtedly creating a similar kind of doubt and uncertainty about his campaign. But Romney has Saturn sextile his Gemini Ascendant, so he’s honed his message and practiced his communication skills.
2. The Full Moon on October 11 aligning with Saturn may mark a turning point in many relationships or at least lead to some significant adjustments. Diplomatic efforts reach a climax around the 13th when the Sun conjoins Saturn, which may also bring a day of important leadership changes in business and politics. Individual needs compete with joint efforts; resolution requires compromise.

3. Juno trine Neptune from the 17th through 23rd increases empathy in most relationships, and is favorable for meeting mystics, musicians, and artists or bringing out your own Inner Artiste. The Sun joins in the mix from the 21st to 23rd, creating a sweet spot on the calendar, good for furthering humanitarian or other cause-oriented goals, and ideal times for social gatherings of all kinds.
4. Saturn opposes the U.S. Chiron on the 13th, which puts intense focus on the dismal unemployment rate as well as the psychological problems of returning war vets. Saturn then trines the U.S. Mars on the 22nd, offering a window of opportunity for Washington politicians to actually get something done. This highly constructive combination is a boon to the military, automobile, and manufacturing sectors.

5. Jupiter trine Pluto on the 28th is a strong influence during the last ten days of October. In earth signs, this astro-event creates a brief interval when financial assets may be favorably deployed or invested. Expect some major financial deals in the news, and some cautious optimism about the economy. This phase offers keen insights into the deeper nature of our social contract.
His Special Theory of Relativity was concisely formulated as E=mc², and published on September 26, 1905 as transiting Saturn was conjunct his Jupiter. His ideas came to him as transiting Neptune was conjunct his Cancer Ascendant, suggesting that he was imagineering a new way to look at the universe. Transiting Saturn (symbolizing adjustments or corrections) opposed his Ascendant on December 4, 1930 when Wolfgang Pauli conceived of the neutrino to account for some minor lost energy in radioactive decay.

The first neutrinos were detected when American physicists working on nuclear weapons measured the “double pulse”, a collision between a neutrino and an atom. The announcement on June 14, 1956 arrived when a Jupiter-Pluto
conjunction was squaring Saturn – all perfectly aligned with Einstein’s Jupiter. Then, last week’s announcement that the neutrino travels faster than the speed of light came as transiting Neptune was conjunct Einstein’s Jupiter, putting doubts on his exalted theory. Einstein is reportedly rolling over in his grave.
