The Glamorous Silicon Valley
NewsScope; Nov 1, 2010; As the American political system struggles to appease anxious, angry Americans, one bright spot looms on the economic horizon: Silicon Valley. This relatively small region in southern San Francisco is home to America's wealthiest and most innovative high-tech businesses, including Apple, Facebook, Google, Intel, and eBay. The term Silicon Valley was first coined on January 11, 1971* in "Electronic News" to refer to the local silicon chip makers, but now represents the U.S. high-tech sector as a whole.
A horoscope for this date (set for sunrise, Mountain View, Santa Clara County, CA) can be used for charting the American high-tech industry. The business-oriented Capricorn Sun forms an Earth Grand Trine with Pluto and Saturn, making this entity a self-sustaining engine for financial growth. Jupiter at 29º Scorpio is well placed with respect to California's horoscope, and also supports Pluto in the 8th house of venture capital.
Transiting Uranus was conjunct SV's Jupiter on December 12, 1980 when Apple made its $1.3 billion IPO and kick-started an explosion of well-financed new ventures (also, P2 MC conjunct Mars, P2 Mars conjunct Jupiter). The dot-com bust unfolded in April 2000 during SV's first Saturn Return, when transiting Uranus was conjunct the SV's progressed Sun. Today, Silicon Valley accounts for one-third of all new venture capitalism in the U.S.
Over the coming year, transiting Neptune will enter Pisces and conjoin the SV progressed Sun, with both squaring natal Neptune. This celestial development represents a growing mystique, including cinematically, as in Facebook's story in The Social Network. With the most cutting edge, inventive, futuristic ideas emerging from this region, Silicon Valley becomes an eagerly anticipated, glamorous first stop for visiting heads of state.
The Bloom Box,
Harbinger of the Age of Aquarius
NewsScope; March 1, 2010. Last Wednesday, the closely watched start-up Bloom Energy officially launched its product: a $700,000 box of electricity-producing fuel cells. The green technology is still too expensive for homeowners, but a dozen corporations are already using the Bloom Box and saving money in the process. Eventually, CEO K. R. Sridhar hopes the cost will come down so homeowners can have their own Bloom Boxes.
The Bloom Box is clearly a harbinger of the Age of Aquarius. The basic design includes flowing warm air to stimulate the movement of ions from one plate to another in order to create electricity. Aquarius, an air sign, is associated with electricity and new
Interests: openness, making things that help people connect and share what's important to them, revolutions, information flow, minimalism.
- from Mark Zuckerman's
Mark Zuckerberg, The Youngest Billionaire
NewsScope; October 4, 2010; Oscar buzz and rave reviews accompanied last week's premiere of The Social Network, the dramatic story of Mark Zuckerberg's creation of Facebook. Critics agree that the script is less of a biopic than a portrayal of the networking-savvy generation. The real Mark Zuckerberg was unhappy with his characterization in the film, and has repeatedly commented in public appearances that it's fiction.
Mark Zuckerberg (May 14, 1984; White Plains, NY; time unknown) was born with his Sun and Venus in determined Taurus opposite his Mars, Moon, and Saturn in intense Scorpio. The Sun's closest aspect is the opposition to Mars, which gives him plenty of energy and drive, while the Moon-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio is emotionally guarded.
A reasonable guess is that Zuckerberg has Aquarius Rising, since no other placement in his chart is found in the sign associated with social networking. A 2:04 am birth time places revolutionary Uranus, his chart ruler, near the Midheaven. He launched Facebook on February 4, 2004 when his progressed Sun opposed Uranus and as his progressed Midheaven was conjunct Neptune in the eleventh house of friends.
Zuckerberg's Venus in Taurus forms a socially awkward opposition to Saturn, but is enhanced by a close trine to Jupiter in the status-oriented sign of Capricorn. A 2:04 am birth time places Venus in the second house of money. Venus here made him wealthy when he created a social network about friends and their status (via Jupiter in the eleventh house). Currently, cinematic Neptune is transiting his Aquarius Ascendant as The Social Network debuts in theaters around the world. Neptune here creates the illusion of character, but conceals the real person.

technology. The Age of Pisces and its ruling planet Neptune are associated with an industrial economy dependent on oil.
From the global perspective, electricity currently comes to the user via highly centralized coal, nuclear or gas-powered plants. The Bloom Box de-centralizes the entire system by allowing the end-user to make his own electricity. Aquarius is all about de-centralization in order to empower the individual. The Age of Pisces is about dependency on external sources (including deities) for one's well being, but especially on global-warming fossil fuels.
The Bloom Box is making its appearance as transiting Jupiter and Uranus are heading into a conjunction, a 14-year cycle that tends to bring technological revolutions in its wake. The current tech revolution will be challenged by Saturn's
simultaneous opposition to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, indicating that there'll be plenty of bugs and practical considerations to work out. Still, the Bloom Box and other innovative, paradigm-busting technologies are advancing civilization into the Age of Aquarius.
