Bernadette Brady
on progressions

"The progression will seem to manifest first as a feeling or need and then as an action"

"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."

"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."

Demetra George
on asteroids

"Astrologers need the asteroids because the tradi-tional planets simply do not and cannot fully explain the issues which are emerging - simply because they are new."

"Before the use of asteroids, the only significators of the feminine in the traditional chart interpretation were the Moon and Venus. The socially acceptable roles for women were the Moon as mother and Venus as mate."

"Ceres, Pallas, June and Vesta represent the new voices of the dormant feminine, recently activated and now demanding power, recognition, justice, and equality in our society."

Richard Tarnas
on the cosmos

Astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive."

"The modern dismissal of astrology reflects the virtually universal conviction that the cosmos is disenchanted."

"The universe is a fundamentally and irreducibly interconnected whole, informed by creative intelligence and pervaded by patterns of meaning and order that extend through every level, and that are expressed through a constant correspondence between astronomical events and human events."

Nicholas Campion
on national horoscopes

"Experiment with the charts. Make predictions. And yes, prediction remains a perfectly valid exercise: one successful prediction reveals more about the nature of the universe than a hundred retrospective studies."

" Just as the individual is contained within the collective, so natal astrology can be seen as contained within mundane astrology."

"The modern nation state is largely a creation of the French revolution and is becoming increasingly irrelevant as capitalism becomes global."
"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

New Zealand: "Gidday Wolfstar, Down under here in New Zealand we are still shaking form the initial earthquake in Christchurch on the 4 Sept 2010.  The 7.1 left us with physical damage but not fatatlies, the one today has cetainly taken its toll in human life.  There has been 4,000 quakes since 4 September 2010 and today the 6.3 (unconfirmed) quake may have killed hundreds and may have been a completely different fault.
"What is the astrology. astro cart o graphy behind this moving and shaking?"

Wisconsin: "I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Wisconsin is having a MAJOR legislative upheaval.    70,000 People filled the State Capitol this past Saturday, protesting Walker’s plan to strip State employees (exempting firemen, policemen & emergency personnel) of their collective bargaining rights. ... Can you shed any astrological light on this?"

Bahrain: "I was pleasantly surprised when I saw on your site the chart for Manama, Bahrain. I was married there in June, 1976, (7th). I did not have a chart for Bahrain,  in fact, my astrology teacher set up the date for me....  but to see it and look at it now, was so interesting. And adding the Video for Watson was great too!!! re Arianna: "regarding Arianna Huffington's Saturn and fame... I have Saturn Virgo 10th+I've never sought personal power or fame. I avoid it like a plague.  The only power I believe in is God's power. Perhaps it's because of my sun conj neptune 12th which may have dissolved any ambition.
"When I was younger, I felt I should go thru a period of being an apprentice. Occasionally, a group would try to put me in a position of authority right away. I always turned it down. It felt wrong. That's more how saturn played out in my chart.

Saudi Arabia and the Uranus-Pluto Cycle

As gasoline prices edge upward, financial analysts are concerned that the fledgling economic recovery could be halted by a prolonged hike in oil prices. Last week Saudi Arabian officials said they would fill the void left by the disruption of supplies in Libya, which at least temporarily stabilized markets. How insulated is Saudi Arabia from the protests rippling through the Gulf countries?

Astrologically, the world’s largest exporter of oil is particularly sensitive to the Uranus-Pluto cycle. Whenever these two outer planets form challenging aspects to each other, they create a geopolitical climate of dynamic social, economic, and political change. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud on January 15, 1902 when he captured Riyadh. At the time, Uranus and Pluto were opposite each other.

The next time Uranus and Pluto formed a hard aspect was 30 years later when King Abdul-Aziz created the modern nation of Saudi Arabia by proclamation. The date was September 23, 1932, and Uranus and Pluto were in a tight square. The next phase of the Uranus-Pluto cycle in the mid-1960s brought an intense rivalry over control of the monarchy. King Saud (Abdul-Aziz’s successor) was forced to abdicate on March 28, 1964 when Uranus and Pluto were conjunct.

The pattern is clear: each phase of the Uranus-Pluto cycle has resulted in metamorphic political changes in Saudi Arabia. The next challenging Uranus-Pluto aspect unfolds between 2012 and 2015, but we can already feel the tension growing. In recent years, King Abdullah has taken many reform-minded steps, but he is 86 years old and in poor health. His likely successors are considered more conservative, and thus more likely to clash with those protesting one-party rule.

The 2011 Aries Ingress

Political astrologers like to look at ingress charts to get a feel for what the next three months will bring. Because it activates the vital 0º Aries point, the Aries ingress is generally considered the most important, and is sometimes used to forecast the coming year’s events. This year’s Aries ingress is extraordinary because it takes place only a few days after Uranus enters Aries.
When the Aries Ingress is set for Washington D.C. (March 20, 7:21 pm EDT), the Sun-Uranus conjunction at 0º Aries happens to fall right on the Descendant, making it the most important factor in this chart. We can see the manifestation of this signature in the burst of activism coming from a variety of quarters, but most readily, from the flurry of GOP candidates now gearing up for the 2012 election season.

This chart also features Jupiter in Aries opposite Saturn in Libra, a polarity that stresses the need for innovative and independent action versus the need for cooperation and partnership to get anything done. Since the ingress Saturn is near the U.S. Saturn, this challenging dynamic suggests the different approaches that politicians are using to address the
nation’s most severe institutional problems. The dominant Sun-Uranus influence works against the status quo and shuns compromise.

The Aries Ingress can be located to the various capitals around the world to find out where else the Sun-Uranus conjunction is angular, and therefore represents the sudden rise of radical leadership. Perhaps it’s no surprise that it’s angular (conjunct the 4th house cusp) in Tripoli, the besieged capital of Libya. The Sun-Uranus conjunction is also angular in Indonesia, Thailand, China, Italy, Germany, Peru and Ecuador. This is where the action unfolds in 2011.
Marisol Valles Garcia, La Adelita

Because of cocaine-sniffing Americans like Charlie Sheen, Ciudad Juarez has become the most violent city in the world, as rival drug cartels battle for the coveted traffic route into the United States. Last October, in the nearby town of Praxiedis G. Guerrero, a 20-year old woman became an overnight hero when she became the town’s police chief after no one else would take the job.

Marisol Valles Garcia was born with her Sun and five other planets in responsible Capricorn (January 18, 1990*; Ciudad Juarez, Mexico; time unknown). Her Sun-Venus conjunction reflects her natural beauty, but since Venus is retrograde, her attitude is serious, studious, and “business first”. The planet of courage, Mars, opposes Ceres, the parenting, care-giving asteroid. From this aspect she gets the nickname “La Adelita”, a mythological woman soldier who cared for the wounded and fought in the Mexican Revolution.
Valles Garcia was sworn in on October 18, 2010 as her progressed Mars was conjunct natal Uranus. The Mars-Uranus combination brings plenty of risk and danger, but in Capricorn, also the need for law and order. Over the next month, the transiting Jupiter-Uranus conjunction was sextile her Sun, bringing her much attention from around the world. “We must not let fear beat us,” she said.

However, last week conflicting reports emerged about her current status. She is either still on the job but taking a brief break, or seeking asylum in the United States to escape death threats. One thing is clear with transiting Pluto now conjunct her progressed Mars-Uranus: she is under extreme pressure from hostile forces. If she’s not seeking asylum, she should. Her predecessor was tortured and beheaded. Does Charlie Sheen know what he’s contributing to?
