Bernadette Brady
on progressions

"The progression will seem to manifest first as a feeling or need and then as an action"

"Progressions are the way the cosmos manifests through us, as compared to a transit, which manifests on us."

"Progressions are a richer source of information than transits. They tap into the realm of the inner, personal world, showing both day-to-day motivations as well as unshakable life statements or desires."

Demetra George
on asteroids

"Astrologers need the asteroids because the tradi-tional planets simply do not and cannot fully explain the issues which are emerging - simply because they are new."

"Before the use of asteroids, the only significators of the feminine in the traditional chart interpretation were the Moon and Venus. The socially acceptable roles for women were the Moon as mother and Venus as mate."

"Ceres, Pallas, June and Vesta represent the new voices of the dormant feminine, recently activated and now demanding power, recognition, justice, and equality in our society."

Richard Tarnas
on the cosmos

Astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive."

"The modern dismissal of astrology reflects the virtually universal conviction that the cosmos is disenchanted."

"The universe is a fundamentally and irreducibly interconnected whole, informed by creative intelligence and pervaded by patterns of meaning and order that extend through every level, and that are expressed through a constant correspondence between astronomical events and human events."

Nicholas Campion
on national horoscopes

"Experiment with the charts. Make predictions. And yes, prediction remains a perfectly valid exercise: one successful prediction reveals more about the nature of the universe than a hundred retrospective studies."

" Just as the individual is contained within the collective, so natal astrology can be seen as contained within mundane astrology."

"The modern nation state is largely a creation of the French revolution and is becoming increasingly irrelevant as capitalism becomes global."

Michael O'Reilly
on geopolitics

"Astrology as a worldview shows us that everything is connected, that the individual is an interdependent part of the whole. "

"When Scorpio is rising, the U.S. has four planets in the eighth house, underscoring the national focus on acculating wealth and corporate influence."

"The biggest celebrities have natal planets closely connected to national planets. Their character may personify a specific planet or group of planets, so that they become a national icon or archetype."
"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

Dilma Rousseff,
Brazil's New President

On January 1 Dilma Rousseff took the oath of office to become Brazil's first woman president. The former Marxist guerrilla fighter  took over from her popular mentor, the outgoing president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. She served as his chief of staff for the last five years and promised to continue his economic and social welfare programs.
Although we don't have a birth time for Dilma Rousseff (December 14, 1947; Belo Horizonte, Brazil), her leadership qualities are evident from the many planetary connections to her Sagittarius Sun. The opposition to Uranus reflects her unwillingness to buckle under Brazil's brutal military regime in the 1960s when she joined a resistance movement and earned the nickname "the Joan of Arc of subversion."

However, as Brazil's political environment improved, Rousseff studied economics and accepted the benefits of capitalism. Her Sun is conjunct Jupiter and trine a Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Leo, a more conservative combination that readily works for the constructive improvement of the socio-economic-political system. These planets are all trine Ceres in Aries, which can be seen as representing her as a pioneering caretaker for Brazil's people, especially the less advantaged.
Rousseff's Venus in ambitious Capricorn is conjoined by Juno, the partnership asteroid. She owes her political advancement to unreserved support of Lula (the former president). Her Venus has progressed into early Aries, where it will be pleasantly activated by transiting Jupiter over the next few months. But then the honeymoon is over as transiting Uranus and Pluto activate her progressed Venus, the natural ruler of her economic strategy. This set-up means learning how to balance her progressive social agenda with the needs of the trans-national corporations.
Anna Chapman, Russia's Celebrity Spy

Last week, Russia's state-owned Channel One TV named Anna Chapman the Woman of the Year. The "This is Your Life"-styled show honored her role as an undercover agent in the U.S., and chronicled her recent activity as a celebrity, which included posing semi-nude for the cover of a Russian magazine and being appointed as an investment adviser to a large Moscow bank.
Anna Chapman (February 23, 1982; Volgograd, Russia; time unknown) was born with her Pisces Sun trine Jupiter and square Uranus, indicating a highly independent and outgoing personality that's not particularly suited to long-term undercover spying. Venus in Capricorn square Pluto better captures her nature as a femme fatale, someone who knows what she wants and how to use her charms to get it.

Chapman was arrested by the FBI last year along with nine others as part of a Russian sleeper cell within the United States. She was deported on July 8, 2010 as transiting Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto all aligned with her progressed Sun in early Aries. Later in the year, when transiting Saturn was exactly trine her Mercury, she was appointed as counselor to the President of the FundserviceBank, which handles
investments in Russia's aerospace industry.

Vladimir Putin is a strong supporter of Ms. Chapman, and facilitated her high-level job with the bank. Two weeks ago, Chapman was appointed to another high-level post with a right-wing youth group that supports Putin's supremacy. Saturn is the key player here: Chapman was born one Saturn cycle after Putin, and currently, transiting Saturn in Libra is marking her first and his second Saturn return. Saturn shapes their cooperative mutual support.
Kelsey Grammer, Blindsided by Neptune's Double Whammy

A reader asks for some insights into Kelsey Grammer's love life, which is once again going through a dramatic transformation. The Frasier star announced last week that he's engaged to Kaytre Walsh who will become his fourth wife. Paying off his current wife, Camille, will cost him some $50 million because he didn't arrange for a prenuptial agreement. Camille turned down his offer of $30 million.

Kelsey Grammer (February 21, 1955; St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; time unknown) was born with his Pisces Sun opposite Pluto and trine Neptune, giving him an ever-hopeful personality (Neptune) with periodic  power
struggles with others that may involve life-changing ultimatums and extreme forms of obsessive-compulsive behavior (Pluto). This challenging Pluto aspect can manifest in its most self-destructive form due to the dynamic square from Saturn in Scorpio.

Grammer's Mars in Aries encourages him to be an Alpha Male by the trine to Pluto, but he also has a penchant for addiction, deception, and sexual fantasies due to Mars's opposition to Neptune. However, with Juno conjunct Saturn, he believes in the institution of marriage. Juno is favorably enhanced by a sextile to Venus in Capricorn, which indicates he marries because he actually falls in love.

The problem is that Juno in Scorpio squares Pluto, a double whammy
that makes for bitter divorces and expensive settlements. Grammer is currently experiencing his progressed Sun opposite Neptune, and soon, transiting Neptune conjunct his Sun. He's being doubly blinded by Neptune and is once again planning on getting married without a prenup. Any astrologer could tell him that under these celestial conditions, that's a bad idea.
"WOW thank you very much for the article on Berlusconi!! The latest news is that the man is broken, he has spoken of leaving office at the end of the term, first time he says this…"
