I'm am so looking forward to reading the Wilton Crop Circle field reports when they come out. Once the formation have vetted and is determined to be non-anthropomorphic (a fancy term for 2 drunk jerks with planks didn't make it), the game is afoot and something big is coming.
This formation takes me back to the famous Alien holding a disc formation that appeared in Crabwood England on August 15, 2002.
This is not to suggest that the message makers are answering us, however if this formation is genuine, it will mean that the dialog is changing. Sacred geometry may no longer be the king of the hill as it looks like we're about to go digital in a much bigger way.
The secret "hi!"
JPC, from down under
Like the other researchers, when analyzing the binary information in the image, I came up with the text e^(hi)pi)1=0. I, too, think this is a clear reference to Euler’s identity, but the question kept coming to me, “Why did they make mistakes?” The intent of the equation is there, but why did they not ‘get it right’, for example by encoding the equation as e^(i*pi)+1=0? I can imagine them having a bit of fun, by turning i-pi into hi-pi. But why replace the ‘+’ with a ‘)’? The Circlemakers don’t ‘get it wrong’! When you look at the perfection of some of their previous designs, it is breathtaking: something that clearly separates them from the inept fakes. But when we examine the Wilton Windmill design itself, the ‘error’ is not subtle; it is there, bold as brass, a 1 instead of a 0.
Let’s look at the clockwise side of the spoke. If we take flattened crop (dark line) as a ‘1’, and non-flattened crop as a ‘0’, and read from the inside to the outside, ignoring the innermost of the 8 ‘tracks’, we get the following 7-bit binary number: 1100101. In decimal this is 101, which on the ASCII chart is the character ‘e’. Continuing clockwise, doing the same with each spoke, we get the whole ‘message’, e^(hi)pi)1=0.
The circle maker’s calculation is based on quaternary numeral system which is more advanced than ours. The quaternary numeral system is like “0 “, “0-“, “-0” and “- -“. In the 12 sections of the circle, there are 8 fragmental circles. Each fragmental circle is composed by 4 symbols, “- -”, “ -”, “- ” and “ ” as can be seen in each section. This represents quaternary numeral system.
A new crop picture at Wilton Windmill on May 22, 2010 showed the famous "Euler Identity" from complex mathematics in 8-bit ASCII computer code
A new crop at Wilton Windmill on May 22, 2010 broke new grounds of expression between the crop artists and ourselves, in terms of the sophistication and coding level of their message. Thus it showed a series of 12 x 8 binary digits in standard 8-bit ASCII code (see ASCII), repeated in duplicate within various parts of the message. When translated into modern English, those 96 binary digits give the result:
e ^ (hi)pi) 1 = 0
On our planet, the famous "Euler Identity" from complex mathematics is often written in abbreviated form as (see Euler's_identity):
e ^ (i pi) + 1 = 0
Thus their crop-based message shows two slight differences from what we call the "Euler Identity". First, it does not seem to contain a "plus sign" on the right. Yet if those crop artists were not perfectly familiar with all aspects of our ASCII code, they could easily have written "right parentheses" for "plus" by a single one-bit error. In which case, the crop formula would become:
e ^ (hi)pi + 1 = 0
which is a close fit to our Euler Identity. The second difference is that they seem to write our complex imaginary symbol "i" as "hi".
Many modern scientists and mathematicians regard that Euler Identity to be the "most beautiful mathematical formula ever" (see Leonhard_Euler), or the "greatest equation ever" (see Euler's_identity). It follows as a special case from Euler's more general formula:
e ^ (i x) = cos (x) + i sin (x)
when x = pi. Please look at this great video which explains everything: see www.youtube.com.
"Beautiful!" the author writes there. Yes, it is a simple equation of great mathematical beauty, which is used today in everything from x-ray crystallography to engineering to DNA. And the crop artists showed it to us in a field of oilseed rape in southern England on May 22, 2010.

I came here on Sunday morning with the Formation just a day old. It is exquisite and has a good feeling about it. It is a 5 pointed star with a central circle and 10 diamond shapes radiating round the perimeter also 40 grape shot with alternating tuft and no tuft. I find it interesting that so many of this seasons formations have occurred near ancient forts. Again I found a dowsable energy line running through the formation, it was a strong one. There were many people visiting and this added to the general feeling about the place. I took a photo of an Australian family who were very excited about the formation. I met a lady up by the Chapel who told me that The night before the appearance of the formation there were local armed groups out in the fields doing a deer cull, no one reported anything out of the ordinary.

The number 40 has come up again in the outside count, confirming this number as a very clear message from the CC makers,
From the late 4th century CE to the late middle Ages, much of Western Europe, including Great Britain, engaged in a period of fasting beginning on the day after St. Martin's Day, November 11. This fast period lasted 40 days, and was, therefore, called "Quadragesima Sancti Martini", which means in Latin...
"The forty days of St. Martin."
We would like to thank John Montgomery for his excellent photograph of the new crop picture near St. Michael’s Chapel.
Why did they draw Venus as a five-pointed star or pentagram? Simply because the shape of its orbit about the Sun, as seen from Earth, traces out the shape of a five-pointed star once every eight years:
St. Michael’s Chapel of July 3, 2010 seems to call our attention to a close conjunction between planet Venus and the bright star Regulus in Leo, one week later on July 9-11, 2010
The new crop picture seems to call our attention to that rare and beautiful astronomical event. It shows a “five pointed star” for Venus (to be explained below), and a series of ten “diamond” shapes for the blue-white star Regulus:

Venus cycle
Another important calendar for the Maya was the Venus cycle. The Maya kings had skilled astronomers, who could calculate the Venus cycle with great accuracy. There are six pages in the Postclassic Dresden Codex devoted to the accurate calculation of the heliacal rising of Venus. The Maya were able to achieve such accuracy by careful observation over many years. There are various theories as to why Venus cycle was especially important for the Maya, including the belief that it was associated with war and used it to divine good times (called electional astrology) for coronations and war. Maya rulers planned for wars to begin when Venus rose.
Venus and Pentagrams
The ancient Maya tracked the morningstar risings of Venus, which occur every 584 days. Venus was the centerpiece of Mayan cosmology and mythology. They created a framework of cycles for predicting the future morningstar risings of Venus - for centuries to come.
With this system, they could also predict solstice and eclipse dates. The two cycles involved in this "calendar" system were the vague year of 365 days (the haab) and the sacred cycle of 260 days (the tzolkin). These two cycles synchronize with each other every 52 years, and this period of time was known as the Calendar Round. The Venus cycle fits in nicely with multiples of the Calendar Round, such that all three cycles synchronize once every 104 years (2 Calendar Rounds). This was the Venus Round, and the sacred day which began the Venus Round was known as the Sacred Day of Venus. From evidence in the Dresden Codex, one of the few surviving Mayan books, we know that 1 Ahau was the traditional Sacred Day of Venus for the Maya. Linguistically, the word Ahau means Lord, Sun, or Marksman, implying that the three cycles are "shot forth" from the sun on this day.
The Maya used this sacred framework of days to track the astronomical movements of Venus. Mythologies developed around Venus and the day-signs associated with its risings. The Popol Vuh of the Quiche Maya is one example of how the cycle of Venus was mythologized. In early Western civilization - in Mesopotamia - we know that Venus worship gave rise to astronomy, science, math and probably civilization itself. As did the Babylonian astrologers, gazing out from their ziggurats, the early skywatchers of Mexico noticed that 5 Venus cycles equals 8 years.
This is just to say that if Venus emerged in the east as morningstar on, say, Christmas, then Venus would again emerge on Christmas eight years later. 13 of these Sun/Venus cycles equal one Venus Round. Another interesting fact related to this is that, because of this 8:5 ratio, Venus traces a five-pointed star around the ecliptic every 8 years. The occult symbol of the pentagram probably has its roots in the discovery of this fact in ancient Mesopotamia.
The Golden Proportion is the key to a fuller understanding of phenomenal unfolding - for it manifests in organic forms such as seashells and pinecones, as well as our own DNA. The involuting spiral of consciousness - the unfolding of the spiritual flower - this is what the Golden Proportion describes.

Crop Circle Pentagrams, Hypercubes and Coded Messages in 2010
"What a remarkable formation at Fosbury, and once again in a stunning setting in Hampshire! It was a real experience inside this formation, and wonderful to meet so many people from all walks of life! Great conversations about its potential meaning, not only from a geometric point, but also its ultimate message."
The Coded Crop Circle
Marshall Masters
First reported on May 22, 2010, a new formation at the Wilton Windmill, near Wilton, Wiltshire is a clear harbinger of what could be a major communication event this season. As always, Mark Fussell and Stuart Dike of the Crop Circle Connector web site are on the case and doing a brilliant job of it.
Assuming the authenticity of the formation (approx. 200' diameter) is confirmed with verifiable field reports, 2010 could become a pivotal year in crop circle research. This is because the binary encoded structure of this formation clearly demonstrates that the message makers have clearly established a perceptual communication protocol for a series of future formations.
Theories and Speculations
More speculation
The windmill can generate thermal energy. Doesn’t the combination of the 12 sections in the circle look like a rapidly-revolving windmill that is generating electrical power?

The Pentagram Crop Circle at St. Michael’s Chapel of July 3, 2010
What is so astonishing about this season, is that it has at atmosphere and feel about it that goes beyond any other season I have experienced. We have been taken to places, that take your breath away for its stunning countryside, but also the designs themselves are possibly taking a profound step towards a new understanding. This Hypercube has caused an enormous amount of excitement on its potential message. Could these shapes be the next step of an evolutionary change for the phenomenon?
